Texas mascot Bevo has the green light to make the trip to Arlington.

The legendary Texas mascot was unable to be on the field for the Longhorns’ College Football Playoff quarterfinal clash with Arizona State at the Peach Bowl. He’ll be back with the team for the upcoming CFP semifinal showdown with Ohio State at the Cotton Bowl. Texas made the announcement on Friday via social media.

Peach Bowl officials cited a lack of sideline space at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for not allowing Bevo at the CFP quarterfinal.

We love all of the great traditions of college football, and no doubt, Bevo is one of the best,” the bowl said in a released statement last month. “But the unfortunate reality is there simply is not enough room on the sidelines of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

“With the constraints of the stadium and prioritizing the safety of Bevo, the players, all the network cameras, support staff, cheerleaders, and photographers, we unfortunately will not be able to have Bevo on the field at the CFP quarterfinal at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Bevo was also barred from the SEC Championship Game showdown with Georgia, which was played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 8. If things go well, the Longhorns could run into the issue again. The upcoming CFP National Championship is also held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Jan. 20, meaning Texas could be looking at playing its 3rd game in the stadium in 2 months.

For now, Steve Sarkisian and his team will focus on facing Ohio State on Jan. 10 at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.
