Texas center Jake Majors went down during Saturday’s College Football Playoff matchup between the Longhorns and the visiting Clemson Tigers, marking the first-ever CFP game to be played on Texas’ turf. He was the player to receive the blindside block on an interception that was returned, and the impact of the hit was enough to send him to the locker room for evaluation.
The good news for Texas was that Majors was on the field for halftime warmups and was a brief participant. He met with a member of the Texas training staff shortly after. He re-entered the game, something that should give the Longhorns hope to keep their foot on the gas offensively while they have the edge like this. It is also big for Majors himself, not only for the obvious reasons but to continue building on his own draft stock as one of the most highly touted players in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The veteran is considered not only one of the best centers in the nation but one of the most solid overall prospects who will be available for the taking in April. Many have mocked him to teams like the Dallas Cowboys in the meantime.
At the start of the second half, Texas held the momentum with a strong 28-10 lead over the Tigers.
