Louisville has its quarterback for 2025.

The Cardinals have landed a transfer commitment from former USC quarterback Miller Moss, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel. According to Cardinal Authority, Moss made an official visit earlier this week to the U of L. He was also considering Mizzou.

It’s a massive victory for coach Jeff Brohm and his Louisville program. The Cards have opted for a veteran from the transfer portal in each of Brohm’s first 2 seasons, plucking Jack Plummer from the portal in 2023 and then moving for Tyler Shough this season. Moss will step into a room that includes former Tennessee and UNLV starter Harrison Bailey, redshirt freshman Pierce Clarkson, and true freshman Deuce Adams. Three-star 2025 signee Mason Mims will enroll at the school in January and go through spring ball.

Moss will have to earn the job. It’s unclear if any assurances were given to him by Louisville to secure his transfer pledge, but Moss will have a leg up on his competition in terms of experience.

He sat for 3 years at USC before finally getting the chance to start. Moss beat out UNLV transfer Jayden Maiava at USC this offseason and opened the year as the Trojans’ starter. He completed 27 of his 36 passes for 378 yards and a touchdown in the opener, leading USC to a signature win over LSU.

In total, he started 9 games for USC before being replaced by Maiava. He completed 64.4% of his passes for 2,555 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 9 interceptions. He also ran for 2 scores.

USC went 4-5 with him as the starting quarterback and finished the season 6-6.

Moss got the first start of his career in the 2023 Holiday Bowl, when he stepped in for Caleb Williams and had a record-setting performance against Louisville. Moss went 23-of-33 for 372 yards and 6 touchdowns that day, leading USC to a 42-28 win. In the performance, he set records for touchdown passes thrown in a Holiday Bowl, touchdown passes thrown in a USC bowl game, and touchdown passes thrown by a USC QB is his first Trojan start.
