Utah freshman running back Ty Jordan, recently named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year, has died

UPDATE: Utah has confirmed the tragic news.

Tragic news to share from Utah as freshman running back Ty Jordan, who was recently named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year, has reportedly died.

Jordan died in an accidental shooting in Texas according to sources of ABC 4 out of Utah. Jordan was a native of Mesquite, Texas.

In his only season on the field for Utah, Jordan rushed for 597 yards and six touchdowns in five appearances. The freshman running back led Utah in carries (83), rushing yards (597), rushing touchdowns (6) and all-purpose yards (723) in 2020, while also catching 11 passes for 126 receiving yards.

In addition to being named Pac-12 Newcomer of the Year, Jordan earned AP Pac-12 second-team honors.

Jordan played his prep football at West Mesquite High School.
