Carter Lang has decided to travel a state over to play his college hoops. The 2023 3-star center from Charlottesville, Virginia (St. Anne’s-Belfield) has decided to commit to Vanderbilt.

This is a big commitment for head coach Jerry Stackhouse and the Commodores. According to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, Lang is the No. 3 hoops recruit from Virginia and the No. 23 center in the nation. He checks in at 6-foot-9, 220-pounds, and has the type of game you’d expect from a broad-shouldered big man. Lang is strong down on the block and in the paint. He attacks the rim with strength and authority, but also has quick feet and soft touch off the glass. Speaking of touch, Cass can be a threat as a shooter off the high pick-and-pop. No, he’s not a young Steph Curry, but the big man can square up and make defenses pay with his shot if they decide to sag on him.

“Vanderbilt provides me with an excellent education and an opportunity to play in the SEC,” Lang told On3 regarding his decision to commit to the Commodores. “Coach Stackhouse runs his team similar to the NBA with all of the resources necessary to develop as a player. I also fit well into their system that utilizes two bigs and will allow me to make decisions with the ball.”

Lang committed to Vanderbilt over Stanford, Illinois, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, and others.
