Diego Pavia is trying to prove that lightning can strike twice — and he’s off to a good start.

Pavia put Vanderbilt up 7-0 on No. 5 Texas on Saturday afternoon thanks to an 18-yard scamper. Pavia rolled out to his right, beat a Texas defender to the edge and then dove — successfully — for the pylon to give the Commodores the lead.

Here’s a replay of Pavia’s big play:

Vanderbilt’s touchdown came on the heels of an interception by Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers. The UT quarterback has struggled a bit since he returned from injury as he also had a couple of first-half turnovers vs. Georgia last weekend in Austin.

Vanderbilt is trying to pull off its second major upset of the season. The Commodores, of course, famously beat then-No. 1 Alabama in Nashville earlier this year. Vandy also has an upset win over Kentucky on its résumé in 2024.

Vanderbilt closed as a 17-point underdog against Texas in this matchup.
