It’s incredibly rare to see a quarterback room turn over the way Vanderbilt’s did this offseason. The Commodores lost four signal-callers following the conclusion of the 2019 season and have added four others since that time, ensuring that no matter who emerges as the starter for next season, the entire room is going to look different come the fall.

With Riley Neal, Deuce Wallace, Mo Hasan and Allan Walters no longer members of the program, the first quarterbacks to arrive in Nashville in time for spring are true freshman Ken Seals and junior college signee Jeremy Moussa.

Atlanta area high school signee Michael Wright and JUCO signee, and former Kentucky signal-caller, Danny Clark are set to arrive this summer.

Adding to Vanderbilt’s issues under center, Moussa started spring camp being limited due to injury. With so few options under center, Texas native Ken Seals has stepped up and taken command early of the Vanderbilt offseason quarterback competition.

Here’s what Derek Mason had to say about his young quarterback when asked about Seals during Vanderbilt’s most recent practice on Tuesday. The Vandy coach also noted that while Clark isn’t set to arrive until the summer, he is spending his spring break in Nashville to learn what he can about the Commodore offense by observing practice.

“Ken Seals is doing a great job. For him, he continues to get better,” Mason said in a video shared on YouTube by VandySports. “Obviously, he’s getting a ton of work and I think that’s important. Danny Clark is here today. Danny is going to be here all week and I think that’s important as well. He comes in, trying to look and see where guys are and what we are doing offensively, he’s taking his spring break to spend time figuring out how it all stacks up. As I’ve watched Ken, Ken’s done a phenomenal job.”

“Jeremy Moussa is actually moving around better than I thought he would. He is starting to make incremental progress and that’s important to us. Both of these guys have extreme arm talent. What we are looking for is proficiency in the offense. Like I said, Ken is getting most of the reps when it comes to team (activities). Both of these guys making good progress in terms of moving the offense.”
