Former Vanderbilt pitcher David Price is a star for the Boston Red Sox, helping the team win the 2018 World Series. He’s also still a big fan of his Commodores.

You can bet he was watching over the weekend, when freshman pitcher Kumar Rocker threw the first no-hitter in super-regional history, striking out 19 Duke players during the outstanding effort.

After the game, Price took to Twitter to congratulate Rocker, calling the freshman’s performance with the season on the line inspirational:

On Wednesday, Rocker joined “The Jim Rome Show” and discussed Price’s praise, saying

“Those guys like Price, also being an African-American, set the path for me and other black players, as well as Vanderbilt players,” he said. “The recognition from him was a big honor.”

Rocker will likely get the ball at least once in Omaha this weekend, so we’ll see what he can do for an encore after that historic no-hitter.
