Martel Hight, a 4-star cornerback from Rome, Georgia, has committed to play in the SEC.

Hight, who is 5-foot-11 and 161 pounds, has committed to play at Vanderbilt. High is ranked the No. 35 cornerback in the class of 2023, and the No. 36 player in the state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite. Hight has a reported 6 offers, and in June, decommitted from Louisville. His offers include Florida, Kentucky, Duke and Wake Forest, and Hight plays wide receiver and cornerback in high school.

Hight is Vanderbilt’s highest-rated commitment in this class, as the Commodores now have 10 commitments in the class of 2023.

Defensive coordinator Nick Howell, defensive backs coach Dan Jackson and associate director of high school scouting Darrius Darden-Box played key roles in Hight’s recruitment, Vandy247 reported.

Four of the 10 commitments are defensive players. Hight is the first cornerback in the class after 3-star prospect Kevis Thomas recently decommitted. The Commodores moved from No. 54 to No. 49 in the 247Sports Composite team rankings with Hight’s commitment.
