This was supposed to be a great year for the Vanderbilt Commodores, as coach Bryce Drew landed two 5-star commits in the 2018 class — PG Darius Garland and F Simi Shittu.
However, only five games into his college career, Garland tore his meniscus and was ruled out indefinitely.
Now, it appears any hopes of a return are over, as Garland tweeted that he has withdrawn from Vanderbilt to prep for the 2019 NBA Draft:

In his five collegiate games, Garland averaged 16.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. He’ll likely be a lottery pick in the upcoming draft.
Meanwhile, the Commodores continue to struggle without him, sporting an 0-5 record in SEC play thus far.
