Report: Vanderbilt losing key assistant coach to Utah

Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason now has a position to fill on his coaching staff ahead of the 2019 season.

Per a report on Thursday night, OC Andy Ludwig will be leaving the program to take the same position at a Pac-12 school.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, Ludwig is heading back to Utah, where he spent the 2005 to 2008 seasons as the Utes’ offensive coordinator previously:

Andy Ludwig, Utah’s first and longest-lasting play-caller of the Kyle Whittingham coaching era, is returning to the Ute football program as offensive coordinator, The Salt Lake Tribune confirmed Thursday night.

Ludwig has been with the Commodores since 2015, overseeing the development of talented players like QB Kyle Shurmur and RB Ralph Webb.

Who Mason turns to for his offensive coordinator next remains to be seen.
