The Vanderbilt Commodores have had a great season so far, winning the SEC regular-season title and following that up with a thrilling victory in the championship game of the SEC Tournament.
A large part of the Commodores’ success was OF JJ Bleday, who socked 26 home runs and had 67 RBI during the 2019 season.
Now, he’s among four finalists for the 2019 Golden Spikes award, honoring the best player in college baseball:

Bleday is joined by Oregon State C Adley Rutschman, Navy P Noah Song and last year’s winner, Cal INF Andrew Vaughn.
Bleday certainly had an award-winning season, so we’ll see if he’s ultimately given the grand prize. However, with the Commodores in the NCAA Tournament, he’d probably rather win the national championship with his teammates.
