Vanderbilt PG Darius Garland saw his season come to an end with a knee injury only a handful of games into his stint in Nashville.

However, the 5-star point guard still managed to impress NBA scouts with his limited college tape, his high school track record and his pre-draft workouts. Now, he’s a top-5 NBA Draft pick, and he’ll be off to the state of Ohio.

That’s because the Cleveland Cavaliers selected him with the No. 5 overall pick in Thursday’s draft in Brooklyn, so he now knows his NBA fate.

He’ll be slotted into the starting lineup alongside former Alabama star Collin Sexton, where he’ll likely be the primary ball handler.

Garland has drawn comparisons to guys like Kyrie Irving, so he has a very high ceiling when it comes to his NBA career. And now, he and Sexton will make up a very exciting young backcourt for the Cavs.

Garland has a lot of NBA potential, but it’ll be up to him to capitalize on it this season.
