Vanderbilt football has set November 4 against Auburn as its designated Homecoming matchup for the 2023 season.

Incredibly, Auburn has not played in Nashville since 2012 and has not won in Nashville against the Commodores since 2003. And with the Tigers coming to town with a new head coach, Vanderbilt decided to pull the trigger rather than placing Homecoming against a cupcake non-conference opponent.

The Commodores barely fell to Mizzou during last season’s homecoming, 17-14. had the Commodores won, they would have finished the season 6-6 with a bowl appearance.

Vanderbilt has a bit of a tougher route towards a bowl game this season. FanDuel currently places the Commodores’ season over/under win total at 3.5, with 3 non-conference games that should (emphasis) be wins against Hawaii, Alabama A&M and UNLV.

We’ll see if the Commodores can find one more during the regular season.
