The Clark Lea era at Vanderbilt got off to a rough start on Saturday with a 23-3 loss to East Tennessee State in a game that could have been even worse if not for a pick-6 called back by penalty.

That kind of result led ESPN’s Ryan McGee to insert Vanderbilt into the No. 6 slot of his weekly “Bottom 10” column, where he ranks some of the worst teams in college football.

For the Commodores, McGee wrote: “Van-duh-built, which is scheduled to face the Team Formerly Coached By An Infamously Cranky Randy (Edsall) on Oct. 2, lost to FCS school East Tennessee State, aka the Team Currently Coached By A Famously Nice Randy (Sanders).”

Unfortunately for the Commodores, they travel on the road this week to Colorado State in a game set for a 10 p.m. ET kickoff on Saturday on CBS Sports Network.
