Vanderbilt is hosting Western Kentucky in a non-conference matchup this week, and the Hilltoppers are giving the Commodores all they can handle.

However, Vanderbilt got a lucky break just before halftime to take a 21-14 lead into intermission.

As you can see below, a pass by QB Kyle Shurmur bounces off a receiver and hits a defender’s foot before landing in the arms of Vanderbilt’s Trey Ellis for a wild touchdown:

In the third quarter, the Commodores currently lead Western Kentucky 21-17 in a game they must win to keep heat off coach Derek Mason.

After a 3-0 start, Vandy has lost five straight games, all of which were in SEC play. If the Commodores can’t beat the Hilltoppers, it won’t be a good sign for upcoming SEC contests.
