Will Sheppard might find himself on “SportsCenter,” regardless of outcome in the Vanderbilt-Wake Forest game.

The Commodores are calling for their wideout to be featured on Top 10 plays after his highlight catch in the first half against the Demon Deacons. On 2nd-and-7 in the red zone, Sheppard somehow came down with a reception inbounds to give the Dores 6 points in the 2nd quarter.

For Sheppard, it’s his 18th career TD catch at Vanderbilt. The Commodores consider Sheppard a senior in 2023, though the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for the 2020 season gives him the option to play college football again in 2024.

Sheppard’s catch cut into Wake Forest’s lead to make it 10-7. The Demon Deacons, have responded, though, getting it back to 17-7 with 3:22 left in the half.

For Clark Lea’s team, AJ Swann is 7-of-12 passing for 79 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Sheppard has 2 catches for 19 yards. Jayden McGown leads the team in receiving yards with a 50-yard reception earlier.
