Michael Vick will be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2025.
That news was made official on Wednesday afternoon. Vick is one of the headliners of this year’s class, along with legendary coaches Nick Saban and Urban Meyer.
Vick was a transcendent talent at Virginia Tech. He was a 2-year starter in Blacksburg and threw for over 3,000 yards while rushing for over 1,200 in just 20 games played. His combination of passing ability and rushing skills was one-of-kind at the time in college football.
In 1999, Vick was the Big East Offensive Player of the Year. He also earned All-America honors, becoming the first Hokie to ever do so as a freshman. Virginia Tech also went 11-0 during the regular season and played in the national title game at the end of the 1999 season.
“Michael revolutionized the quarterback position with his combination of speed, accuracy, and big, strong arm,” former Virginia Tech coach Frank Beamer said in a press release. “He inspired a new generation of dual-threat quarterbacks. No one did more than he did to put the Virginia Tech program on the national stage. I am grateful for the opportunity to coach him and thrilled he is being inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.”
Vick went on to become the No. 1 overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons. He had a successful NFL career, most notably with the Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles. He played in parts of 13 NFL seasons.
A total of 22 people (18 players and 4 coaches) will be inducted into the the 2025 College Football Hall of Fame class. The group will be officially inducted during a ceremony in Las Vegas on Dec. 9, 2025.
