Caleb Williams has reportedly centered his focus on Wisconsin, which has been has emerged as a “true contender” to land the Oklahoma quarterback transfer.
The news comes from Gerry Hamilton of On3 Sports about the best quarterback available in the transfer portal. He’s considered a Heisman Trophy candidate for the 2022 season.
Williams, a former 5-star recruit from Washington, D.C., announced his intention to transfer after Lincoln Riley left Oklahoma for Southern Cal.
Williams passed for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns and ran for 435 yards and six scores in 2021, and won the starting job from preseason Heisman Trophy favorite Spencer Rattler midway through the season.
“I think we all come to college to find our path and prepare for the future. I came to Oklahoma with a plan, but with all the recent changes, I need to figure out what is the right path for me moving forward,” Williams wrote in his transfer portal announcement.
Williams has reportedly met with the USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins about a potential transfer, and he has received an offer of $1 million from former NFL quarterback Charlie Batch to play at Eastern Washington.
About 3 weeks ago, shortly after Williams’ news came out, his father told Pete Thamel that the family was “chuckling at all the rumors.” Carl Williams also said that “no decision…is imminent” and that “the family plans to take their time with the decision.”
