Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis has officially resigned from his position.

On Thursday, TideSports.com reported that Davis was expected to either resign or be fired from his position after an inquiry into potential recruiting violations. The school had reportedly been in the process of an internal investigation as the NCAA had also made inquiries.

Coach Nick Saban responded to the move in a statement obtained by Saturday Down South:

“Bo Davis has submitted his letter of resignation,” said Saban. “We appreciate all the contributions he made to the program and wish him and his family the very best in the future.”

Davis has spent a good chunk of his coaching career as a member of Saban’s staffs. He coached alongside him in 2006 with the Miami Dolphins as an assistant defensive line coach and assistant strength and conditioning coach. Before that, he spent three years with Saban at LSU as an assistant strength and conditioning coach.

A part of Saban’s original coaching staff at Alabama when he arrived in 2007, Davis left the Crimson Tide to become the defensive tackles coach at Texas (2011-13) before returning to Tuscaloosa one more time.

He was named Scout.com’s “2016 SEC Recruiter of the Year” this past February.
