Alabama offers scholarship to Crimson Tide legacy in Class of 2017
The Crimson Tide reached out to the new-school version of an old-school legend on Monday.
Alabama offered a scholarship to 2017 defensive tackle recruit Kivon Bennett, the son of former Alabama linebacking great Cornelius Bennett.
Bennett is a three-star prospect out of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas, a school that was first in 247Sports.com’s metric that it used to rank the nation’s high schools in terms of producing college football talent.
Bennett made the announcement on Twitter:
“@kb_versace: Extremely humbled to receieve an offer from Bama #SEC #likefatherlikeson #legacy #RollTideRoll pic.twitter.com/nCaO9D5DGa”awesome

Cornelius Bennett, who played at Alabama from 1983-86, who went on to have a stellar 14-year NFL career in which he played for the Buffalo Bills, Atlanta Falcons and Indianapolis Colts. With the Bills, Bennett was a five-time Pro Bowler and was named First-Team All-Pro in 1988.
It’s worth mentioning that rival Tennessee also offered Bennett on Monday.
