OFFENSE: A+

Alabama’s offense looked outstanding on Saturday. The Tide forced Florida to allow a school-worst 645 total yards in the 42-21 win. Blake Sims enjoyed another convincing performance with 445 yards and four touchdowns on 23-of-33 passing. Then again, its hard not to have a big game with Amari Cooper as your top target. The junior wide receiver finished with 201 yards and three touchdowns on 10 receptions. Cooper also set the school record for touchdown catches by a wide receiver with 20.

DEFENSE: A-

Alabama’s defense forced four turnovers in Saturday’s win. The defense allowed 14 of Florida’s 21 points, with one coming on a 49-yard that proved to be Blake Sims’ only mistake of the game. The Tide forced Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel to just 93 yards and two interceptions on 9-of-28 passing.

SPECIAL TEAMS: B

Alabama kicker Adam Griffith went 0-for-1 on field goal attempts and a perfect 6-for-6 on extra point attempts. The Tide’s special teams coverage didn’t allow any big plays on their seven kickoffs and made zero punt attempts. Christion Jones fared well on kick off returns with 70 yards and a 23.3 average on three attempts.

COACHING: A+

Lane Kiffin made an excellent call on Alabama’s opening drive to exploit soft coverage. Running back Kenyan Drake streaked down the sideline on an 87-yard reception to give the Tide their first score. Kiffin looked impressive in his play calling as Alabama’s offense continues to adjust to his scheme. Nick Saban managed the game well and seemed to go easier on former protege Will Muschamp late into the game.

OVERALL: A

Alabama looked like the team many expected entering the season. After a questionable start against West Virginia, the Tide took two dominant wins against Florida Atlantic and Southern Miss before a convincing win against an SEC team. The Tide dominated both sides of the football and look to live up to their preseason expectations.
