To the surprise of no one, Alabama remained the No. 1 team in the latest College Football Playoff rankings after the top-12 teams all won on Saturday.

However, the Crimson Tide will have to put their 11-0 record on the line on Saturday afternoon at No. 6 Auburn in an Iron Bowl game with serious CFP implications.

During Tuesday night’s CFP rankings show, ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit said a one-loss Alabama team could still make the final four if the CFP selection committee looks at the eye test over the Crimson Tide’s lackluster resume.

“An Alabama loss in the Iron Bowl, and trying to figure out the resume vs. the eye test,” he said. “If you’re an Alabama fan, you’d hope they’d look more at the eye test and saying they’re still a top-four team and worthy of discussion.”

Obviously, the easiest path to the Playoff is just to win out, but the Crimson Tide don’t face an easy schedule. This year’s Iron Bowl is the biggest it has been since 2013, so it should be an exciting game.
