On Thursday night, ESPN gathered Alabama coach Nick Saban and the three other College Football Playoff coaches together for an interview session.

During the interview, Saban was asked about the status of backup QBs David Cornwell and Cooper Bateman, who have both announced they are transferring from the school.

Saban acknowledged that both players would be with the Crimson Tide until the College Football Playoff run was over.

“They will finish the season with us,” he said during the press conference.

That’s good news for the Tide, who would have had to rely on freshman Montana Murphy to backup starter Jalen Hurts if both Cornwell and Bateman were absent.

That’s good news for Cornwell and Bateman, too, as they will have a chance to win another title before they head off to their new schools.
