The Razorbacks’ backup quarterback underwent surgery earlier this week, but if all goes well it won’t affect the depth chart heading into the season.

Sophomore QB Rafe Peavey, who finished No. 2 behind Austin Allen in spring workouts, had surgery Wednesday after getting injured in summer workouts.

“Unfortunately Rafe suffered a minor back injury during routine summer workouts,” coach Bret Bielema said in a released statement. “He underwent successful surgery on Wednesday and is on the path to recovery so he can return to the field for fall camp. I’m confident Rafe will make a full recovery and will build on his strong spring during fall camp.”

Peavey redshirted in 2014 and was Brandon Allen’s backup in 2015. He went 7-of-10 passing for 60 yards in Arkansas’ spring game.
