The Florida Gators are still piecing together Jim McElwain’s first recruiting class in Gainesville, and they took another step forward Monday by adding three-star safety Kylan Johnson to the bunch.
Florida flipped Johnson from Kansas State to the Gators just two days before National Signing Day. He’s now the 14th verbal commitment in Florida’s current class.
The Dallas native committed to Kansas State last Thursday and was offered a scholarship by Florida last Friday. Johnson played both quarterback and safety in high school, and although he’s considered an athlete by many recruiting outlets it’s expected he will play safety for the Gators.
His commitment also comes just hours before four-star tailback Jordan Scarlett reveals his commitment. The St. Thomas Aquinas product will choose between Florida, Florida State and Miami.
