Joe Alleva isn’t even officially out the door in Baton Rouge but LSU has already apparently targeted its next athletic director. If you thought the LSU-Texas A&M rivalry was hot now, just wait and see what happens if the school from Baton Rouge steals the Aggies’ AD.

If you missed the news, Alleva is expected to step down from his position in Baton Rouge. That news was first reported by the Baton Rouge Business Report and has since been confirmed by multiple outlets. This decision comes just days after basketball coach Will Wade was reinstated in Baton Rouge after being suspended by LSU.

With Alleva now out, LSU has set its sights on landing Texas A&M AD Scott Woodward, according to Billy Liucci of TexAgs and Glenn Guilbeau of USA TODAY Sports/the Daily Advertiser. Woodward has been on the job in College Station for a relatively short period of time and managed to lure football coach Jimbo Fisher away from Florida State, something Joe Alleva tried to do at LSU on multiple occasions but failed to do, and basketball coach Buzz Williams from Virginia Tech. Both hires have been met with near universal praise around the nation.

Before landing the AD job at Texas A&M, Woodward served in the same role at Washington after serving five years in LSU’s athletic department.

Regardless of whether LSU manages to steal away Woodward from Texas A&M or if the school has to move on to Plan B, the next AD in Baton Rouge will be beloved compared to the popularity currently bestowed upon Alleva on the Bayou. Check out what former LSU board member Stanley Jacobs had to say about Alleva, according to Guilbeau:
