Five-star safety JaCoby Stevens, who committed to LSU on Aug. 8, is excited to play for Tigers defensive backs coach Corey Raymond. As one of the top secondary coaches in the country, Raymond’s name is constantly floated for openings at other schools.

Stevens recounted how Alabama coaches were telling him that Raymond was leaving LSU and he should change his commitment. According to The Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, Auburn’s search for a defensive backs coach and the school’s pitch that Raymond could work with former colleague Kevin Steele again likely led to Raymond’s recent extension and raise.

Even after Raymond signed his new contract, Alabama wasn’t giving up, and Stevens couldn’t help but chuckle at that.
