Corey Raymond is widely regarded as one of the top defensive back coaches in the country.

A graduate of LSU, he returned in 2012 to coach up the secondary in Baton Rouge. He’s done a terrific job — as evidenced by the number of former LSU defensive backs currently in the NFL.

A few of these players include Tyrann Mathieu, Ronald Martin, Jalen Collins, Jalen Mills, Eric Reid, and Rashard Robinson. This number will eventually grow with the likes of Tre’Davious White and Jamal Adams.

Multiple programs — including Auburn — had been sniffing around Raymond as a potential option.

This ultimately was all for naught. Via a report from The Times-Picayune, Raymond has signed a three-year contract extension with LSU. This includes a raise from his previous salary total ($375,000). The new contract will be worth $1.38 million.

Raymond’s re-upping is a big move for Ed Orgeron and his staff. Not only is Raymond a great coach and developer of talent, but he’s also a tremendous recruiter.
