Mizzou injury news: Key offensive player out for Week 2, per report
Mizzou will reportedly be without a key offensive player in Week 2.
ESPN’s Pete Thamel shared Thursday that sophomore TE Brett Norfleet will be unavailable for the No. 9 Tigers against Buffalo. Per Thamel, Norfleet is dealing with a shoulder injury that is considered week-to-week.
Sources: Missouri will be without star sophomore tight end Brett Norfleet against Buffalo on Saturday. He suffered a shoulder injury against Murray State, which is not a long-term injury. He’s considered week-to-week. Norfleet was an All-SEC freshman in 2023. pic.twitter.com/BCDJc8Uj6b

Norfleet is coming off a strong debut season in Columbia. As a freshman, Norfleet appeared in 12 games, recording 18 receptions for 197 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Norfleet’s memorable outings include his career-long reception of 27 yards in the win over Kansas State, a career-high 4 receptions in the win at Kentucky and a career-high 43 receiving yards in the victory over Florida. In the 2024 opener, he had 1 catch for 4 yards.
Mizzou should be fine without Norfleet for the Week 2 contest against Buffalo. The Tigers are 34.5-point home favorites at FanDuel Sportsbook.
Norfleet’s week-to-week status will likely be monitored closely as Mizzou enters the Power 5 portion of their schedule. In Week 3, the Tigers host Boston College. Bill O’Brien’s team made a statement in Week 1 defeating Florida State in Tallahassee. Eli Drinkwitz’s team opens SEC play in Week 4 against a Vanderbilt squad that took down Virginia Tech already.
Last thing to do is make minor injuries into major ones in week two
I thought we portaled in a TE from Buffalo, probably just to connor stallions them,, or can he actually play?
They brought in Stephens from Buffalo in ’22. Solid dude, great blocker & able to catch. With Norfleet out it will be Stephens starting.
probably should have been a top portal look for the pervious season given how fragile Norfleet seems to be.. not that TE is a priority in Mizzou’s scheme.
