Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel took the opportunity to talk about how his coaching staff ignores recruiting rankings and “star” rankings and continues to excel in player development.
“We don’t ever look at stars. Never have in our evaluation. It’s never come up in our system that we use…. Trying to get very competitive people. Try to bring students in your program that want to excel. And they have to have size and speed especially speed potential. They don’t really have to be great football players. We can teach them how to be great football players. A lot of our rankings aren’t that high. We were fifth in the number of players drafted last year. In first round draft choices, we’ve been in the last seven years I think in the top five in the nation.”
