Former Alabama cornerback Marlon Humphrey was selected No. 16 overall by the Baltimore Ravens.

He was the first Alabama player selected Thursday night.

Few cornerbacks possess the type of athleticism and speed that the former Alabama cornerback possesses. He’s a former 5-star prospect rated as the country’s No. 3 overall cornerback and No. 12 overall player exiting high school, and he comes from first-round NFL bloodlines, as his father, Bobby, played running back.

Bobby was a 1,000-yard rusher during his rookie season with the Broncos in 1989.

The younger Humphrey was a two-year starter in Tuscaloosa after redshirting his freshman season. He was all-SEC Freshman team member in 2015, and he was named a 2016 All-American by the Football Writers Association of America. He recorded two INTs and five pass breakups for the Tide in 2016.

Although Humphrey didn’t exactly produce jaw-dropping numbers, his athleticism and freakish ability is just too much for scouts to overlook. He was a state champion and sprinter in high school, and he purely possesses elite ability to take his game even higher in the NFL.

However, the 6-0, 197-pound back is as competitive as they come, and his mental makeup has impressed scouts leading up to the draft. But his physical gifts scream a future lockdown cornerback.
