Jim Harbaugh has stirred the pot plenty this week as he clashes with the SEC over the idea of bringing his Michigan football program to Florida to practice on a spring break trip.

Now, it appears as though another Big Ten coach is warming to the idea.

According to a report from MLive.com, Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said on Thursday that he is at least giving a trip down south some thought.

“I think it’s creative, there’s no question about that,” Dantonio said, asked what he thought of Michigan holding four practices at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. “From our standpoint, we’ve never thought to do that, but we’re thinking about it nowadays.”

While the concept of a traveling spring practice is still within the rules, there is a chance that could change thanks to pressure from conferences like the SEC which see this as infringement upon the player’s time away from football, as well as the league’s home turf.

“If we want to go to Florida or someplace else in Texas or something like that, it would be our option to do that, and I guess that’s allowed right now,” Dantonio said. “I do think it’s important to have a level playing field.”

The weather and the recruiting is better in the South, so can you really blame these Big Ten coaches for wanting a taste of that after a long, cold winter in Michigan?
