You may have seen it already, but your social media feed is about to change. That is, if you’re keeping tabs on college coaches.

Beginning August 1, NCAA Proposal 2015-48 will go into effect, which permits coaches to endorse (like and favor) and republish (retweet and repost) prospects on social media.

Here’s what the proposal says:

To establish exceptions to the prohibitions on endorsements of events that primarily involve prospective student-athletes, or endorsements of a prospective student-athlete’s team or coach, or an athletics facility that is primarily used by prospective student athletes, and an exception to the restrictions on publicity before commitment that permits actions (e.g., “like,” “favorite,” republish, etc.) by an institutional staff member on social media platforms that indicate approval of content on social media platforms that was generated by users of the platforms other than institutional staff members or representatives of an institution’s athletics interests.

It’s worth noting that coaches can’t reply or comment on a prospect’s tweet.

Social media already plays a big part in the recruiting process. Players, coaches and fans all use different platforms to connect, and it’s about to get a boost with the new proposal.

Social media is here to stay in college football recruiting, and it could be interesting to see which SEC coaches retweet prospects the most.

Here’s a pro tip from ESPN’s Alex Scarborough: turn off retweets from coaches.
