After every weekend of games, you always hear about the performances of stars like Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett. But there are also the performances you don’t hear as much about, coming from some under-the-radar SEC players — the sleepers.

Who were the best of the Saturday Sleepers from Week 5? Take a look.

JAKE McGEE, FLORIDA

Florida is not known for its aerial attack, so McGee doesn’t usually get a ton of opportunities to make plays, let alone find the end zone. But in the Gators’ big win over No. 3-ranked Ole Miss in Week 5, McGee caught the second of Will Grier’s four touchdown passes. At 6-foot-6, McGee should remain a solid red zone target for Florida moving forward.

MINKAH FITZPATRICK, ALABAMA

Fitzpatrick is a freshman defensive back that starts for the talented Crimson Tide defense, but his biggest play against Georgia came on special teams. Although he did also turn in a respectable game on defense with four tackles and a sack, Fitzpatrick’s blocked punt that he scooped and scored for a touchdown in the second quarter busted the game wide open for Alabama.

FRED ROSS, MISSISSIPPI STATE

Ross finds himself on this list for the second week in a row and probably can’t be considered a sleeper anymore after his performance against Texas A&M. Ross hauled in 11 receptions for 103 yards against the Aggies for the third 100-yard receiving game of his career. Ross starts for the Bulldogs but is often overshadowed by De’Runnya Wilson and also competes for targets with Fred Brown.

ISH WITTER, MISSOURI

After Russell Hansbrough went down with an injury, Witter became the Tigers’ lead back and he had his best game of the season in Week 5 against South Carolina. Witter’s previous season-high was 54 rushing yards but he amassed that against the Gamecocks by gaining 98 yards at 5.8 yards per clip. Witter also scored his first touchdown of the season in this game, running one in from the 1-yard line in the third quarter.

RAWLEIGH WILLIAMS, ARKANSAS

As the backup to Alex Collins, Williams doesn’t usually have that many chances to make an impact on the Razorbacks’ games. But Arkansas finally found a way to win a close game this season, and Williams played a huge part in the Razorbacks’ success on the ground against Tennessee. Collins got his too, compiling 154 rushing yards and two touchdowns. But Williams had by far his best game of the season with 100 yards on 14 carries.

BLAKE BONE, KENTUCKY

After not recording more than three catches in a game before the Wildcats’ meeting with Eastern Kentucky, Bone had a breakout performance with seven receptions for 85 yards in Week 5. Bone is just a sophomore and does not start for Kentucky, but he was a major contributor in the Wildcats’ narrow 34-27 win over their in-state rival.
