Spurrier, who retired with the second-most wins by an SEC coach in October, spent 11 seasons at South Carolina from 2005-15 and 12 at his alma matter, Florida, from 1990-2001. He finished his career with a 228-89-2 overall record including 131 wins in SEC games and is the all-time winningest coach at both schools.
Spurrier led Florida to a national championship in 1996, as well as six SEC Championships (1991, 1992-96, 1999-2000, 2010). He also led South Carolina to its first SEC Championship Game appearance in 2010.
The “Head Ball Coach” was named SEC Coach of the Year seven times (1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1996, 2005, 2010) and won the 1966 Heisman Trophy while playing quarterback at Florida.
Spurrier is one of the most polarizing figures in SEC history due to his outspoken bluntness in press conferences and interviews. Undoubtedly, his biography will provide several jabs at former rivals such as Tennessee and Georgia.
