When fans hear that a player had knee surgery in the offseason, most temper their expectations for said player the following season. Former South Carolina DL Jadeveon Clowney had knee surgery only six months ago, but he shared that he’s ready to get back on the field at a recent Houston Texans media opportunity.

“I’m ready,” Clowney told reporters. “I’m very excited. I’m looking forward to the season.”

He put the reporters on the spot, asking for their opinion.

“Don’t I look healthy?” Clowney reportedly asked them.

They agreed that he did appear to be healthy.

“Well, there you go,” Clowney said.

Health concerns have been a widely discussed issue with Clowney during his young NFL career, but he played in all 16 games for the Texans last season. Clowney has plenty of motivation to show that the surgically repaired knee is healthy and that he can play at full speed. The 2018 season is the final year of Clowney’s rookie contract with Houston. He’s likely in for a big payday if he impresses on the field this fall.
