Evan Hinson, a true freshman tight end and former three-star prospect from the 2016 recruiting class, has begun his journey has a two-sport athlete at South Carolina.

He’s been practicing with the basketball team on Mondays, according to football coach Will Muschamp.

“Frank (Martin) thinks he’s going to be a really good basketball player,” Muschamp said, per The State.

Hinson (6-foot-4, 240 pounds), who played both ways his senior year and totaled six touchdown receptions with five sacks, was a well-known basketball star in his Delta, Fl. community. He averaged 20.6 points and six rebounds per game in 2015-16, earning the Daytona Beach News-Journal’s Male Athlete of the Year award.

“Football is the No. 1 priority,” Hinson said before enrolling at USC. “I got recruited not as a basketball player, but as a football player. I’ve always played both my whole life. It’s nothing new. If I do get the chance, I will try to play both.”
