With Perry Orth’s college career coming to a close following South Carolina’s bowl game, the senior quarterback took some time to thank the school and fans that embraced him.

Orth wrote the following in a message posted by The State:

“Many kind words have been spoken and written about me, and I want to say thank you – to everyone.

“I also want to say that any contributions I may have made to the USC football team are nothing compared to what USC did for me. The experiences I had at Carolina, the people I met, the friendships I made, have all molded me into who I am. As I leave, I am a better person; better prepared to face the future and contribute to the fullest.

“To the Carolina Community, my professors, coaches, friends and teammates – Forever to Thee.”

Orth was a former walk-on who won the starting job in 2015, going just 1-7 as the starter. He completed 54.8 percent of his passes 1,929 yards, 12 touchdowns and nine interceptions as a junior.

As a senior, Orth was again in the mix to be the starter but never separated himself from true freshmen Brandon McIlwain and Jake Bentley. In six games, he completed 57 of 90 passes for 661 yards and two interceptions.
