Johnny Manziel knows what it’s like to be drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the first round of the NFL Draft.

Although Manziel wasn’t the No. 1 overall pick like Baker Mayfield, he was taken in the first round and eventually crashed out of the league in very public fashion. Thankfully, Manziel’s life has turned around for the better, and he’s attempting revive his football career in the CFL.

Even before — and especially after — Cleveland drafted Mayfield, the comparisons between Manziel and Mayfield were discussed, and Mayfield had a response.

“It’s understandable, obviously. First-round picks by the Browns, close to the same size, playmakers,” Mayfield said about being compared to Manziel. “But we’re two completely different people. I care about winning. I care about doing things the right way. I just want to be judged for who I am.”

While speaking on the Dan Patrick show Thursday, Patrick asked Manziel a very pointed question, “What advice would you give Baker Mayfield?”

“I feel like Baker’s in a better situation, having a vet quarterback in there in Tyrod (Taylor),” Manziel said. “There’s not pressure on him to come in and start Day 1, and I think he’s going to go into it and, you know, he’s going to learn from the vets. It hurts when you don’t have a guy like Joe Thomas on the O-line, because once I started to get to know Joe and started to pick his brain, I really started to learn a lot of stuff. That guy’s a legend.

“He’s got good people around him, he’s got a great group of receivers. And trust in those guys they have around him. That would be my advice to him. Baker’s got the fire, Baker’s got the spark, and I think he’ll do alright. But don’t let the pressure of everything else that goes on get to you. Just go out and make football the main thing.”
