During his recruitment, former Texas A&M running back Kendall Bussey couldn’t make up his mind. First he committed to Tulane University close to home in New Orleans, then Tennessee before finally landing with the Aggies.

Now the running back who went to the same high school as the Manning brothers and Odell Beckham Jr. is headed back to the Bayou and transferring to Nicholls State, according to Kelly McElroy with Houma Today.

She also spoke with Colonels head coach Tim Rebowe:

“There was some talk this summer about him leaving (Texas A&M),” Rebowe said. “He asked for his release and got it. We had an opportunity and got in the mix with him and started talking to him. He wanted to come here. He showed up (Thursday) and we got him his physical and got him into the playbook and on the field (today). He is quite a specimen. He worked out over the summer and I think he can help this football team.”

It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Bussey sought out playing time elsewhere, and closer to home. The New Orleans native was fourth among Aggies rushers last season with 47 carries for 239 yards and a touchdown. He was third on the depth chart in each of the past two years behind Keith Ford and Trayveon Williams.
