Former Texas A&M LB Von Miller’s contract negotiations have been one of the biggest stories of the NFL offseason.

Miller rejected previous offers from the Denver Broncos of one-year deals with the franchise tag. When that deadline passed, negotiations continued, but the two parties have yet to reach a deal. Heading into Friday’s 4 p.m. ET deadline, it has been widely reported that Miller has an offer on the table for a six-year, $114.5 million deal with $70 million in guaranteed money.

Many of the reports have included that Miller is “expected” to sign, but Mike Florio isn’t so sure, as he posted on his site ProFootballTalk.com:

Miller already is rankled by the manner in which the negotiations were handled in June, perceiving that the team was trying to make him look greedy to the public and, more importantly, to his teammates for not accepting a deal that had a total of $58 million guaranteed for injury, $38 million of which was fully guaranteed at signing. If Miller now perceives that the Broncos are trying to paint him into a corner by making it known that he’s “expected” to sign the enhanced offer, maybe he won’t.

The sticking point for the 27-year-old Super Bowl 50 MVP appears to be that he would not have the highest amount of guaranteed money in the NFL ($75 million for Indianapolis QB Andrew Luck). The proposed deal exceeds similar contracts for Ndamukong Suh (19.063 million per year) and Fletcher Cox ($55.55-63.3 million guaranteed).

If Miller and the Broncos cannot reach an agreement, he could potentially take the 2016 season off and seek a better deal with a new team.
