Tennessee senior wide receiver Pig Howard has been suspended for the first game of the season against Bowling Green, according to Jimmy Hyams.

Howard has caught 111 passes for 1,060 yards and five touchdowns during his Tennessee career.

Jones said during his press conference that Howard’s issue dates back several months.

“This isn’t something that just occurred,” he said. “This is something that dates back many months. To Alton’s credit, I like the way he’s approached training camp. He’s had the best training camp that he’s had since we’ve been here. I’m appreciative of his efforts, but he will miss the Bowling Green game.”
