For the time being, it looks like Peyton Manning is done worrying about Al Jazeera.

The Qatar-based news network Al Jazeera of course famously produced an investigative documentary claiming several notable NFL players had used performance enhancing drugs, including most notably Manning’s wife being shipped HGH for the purposes of giving it to her husband.

It should be noted Charles Sly, the former Guyer Institute intern who made the original accusations against Manning has since recanted his story and claimed he lied to Al Jazeera.

Manning quickly came out and denied the allegations and began preparations to possibly respond with legal action. According to USA TODAY’s Christine Brennan, after many consultations with attorneys, Manning has decided against any legal action at this time.

Per the article, the decision came “after a dozen conference calls with attorneys” prompted Manning to conclude “that he doesn’t want to spend the time and money necessary to file a lawsuit that would make public the personal records and private lives of both he and his wife Ashley.”

If Manning did sue Al Jazeera, the company would likely ask for the history of both Manning and his wife’s personal medical records as well as any as personal information the Manning’s likely don’t want shared to the public – and more importantly the NFL.

The NFL recently indicated they plan to speak to the players named in the report and unless Manning and his wife are required to present medical documents in a possible defamation lawsuit against Al Jazeera, the league will have no access to those files.

Manning has indicated in the past he would freely share the information with the NFL is asked.
