The Tennessee Volunteers are in a position to take over the No. 1 spot in the AP Poll when it comes out on Monday after beating Alabama on Saturday.

Current No. 1 Duke and No. 2 Michigan went down this week, so the Vols are poised to move up from the No. 3 spot following their narrow win over the Tide.

They’re already getting some national love for the top spot, as ESPN expert Jeff Borzello has the Vols in the No. 1 spot in his latest power rankings. Here’s what he said about Rick Barnes’s squad:

The Volunteers nearly missed their chance to take advantage of Michigan’s loss, barely surviving at home against Alabama. It was their worst offensive performance since their loss to Kansas in late November, as they struggled to get second-chance opportunities and made only three 3-pointers. That said, they’ve now won 11 in a row.

The Vols have a trip to Vanderbilt and a home game against a West Virginia team that just beat Kansas (the only team to beat the Vols this year), so it should be an interesting week.
