Florida DL Cece Jefferson had people talking on Twitter for the wrong reason Saturday night.

A video circulated showing what many had noticed on TV while watching the UF-Tennessee game: Jefferson hit Volunteers QB Jarrett Guarantano in his legs well after he had thrown the ball. The hit, late in the third quarter, would keep Guarantano out for the remainder of the game. Florida went on to win 47-21.

Though many on Twitter called Jefferson’s hit “bush league” or a “cheap shot,” Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt said he saw nothing wrong with it.

“I saw a guy playing hard. It is unfortunate Jarrett got hit the way he did, but guys play hard, and it wasn’t intentional by any means the guy just stumbled around,” Pruitt said. “No, we didn’t send it in. I have confidence in the officiating crews. They are there to protect the players.”

He confirmed that UT will not be sending the play to the SEC for any further review.

Pruitt had positive news to share on Guarantano, saying he believed the quarterback would be fine and had already seen him throwing and working in the indoor facility on Sunday.
