Video: Here’s the hit that sent veteran referee Ron Cherry to the hospital

In Saturday afternoon’s USC-Notre Dame game, veteran referee Ron Cherry was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
In the above video, Cherry is running in after a play and is unable to get out of the way of a stumbling USC player, who levels the unlucky ref.
The Trojan player was surprised to see a referee that far away from the play and couldn’t slow down.
After receiving attention on the field, Cherry was taken to a hospital for evaluation:

Cherry has apparently been released. Here’s hoping he makes a speedy recovery.
