Jordan-Hare stadium is due for a $12 million upgrade, and fans stand to gain from the new digs.

This segment of funding is dedicated specifically to the press box, which includes coaches boxes, television booths, and some additional club seating, according to AL.com. Construction will start on August 25 and end July 24, 2018, for the project, meaning that it will be ongoing through next football season.

The plan is to improve the current setup, while also consolidating space and building more premium seats for fans to enjoy. As many modern stadiums designers are finding out, more club seats often mean a nice revenue spike with very little cost past the initial investment.

While speaking on the project in February, Auburn athletic director Jay Jacobs said the following:

“(We plan to) take the current press box — about 70 percent of it because the coaches and national television will stay there — take that area and maybe have as many as 150 high-end club level seats to generate revenue and also increase the fan experience. Take the space we currently have and renovate it to make an even better gameday experience.”

All this is part of a greater $28 million upgrade, which will take the Tigers’ home into the upper-tier of SEC facilities. That link includes some beautiful renderings of these new spaces, so it’s worth a look.
