In the arms race that is known as college football recruiting in the SEC, Auburn is preparing to take a commanding lead.

The Tigers are planning a $28 million renovation of Jordan-Hare Stadium that will include upgrades to the team’s locker room, better amenities for the fans and a new recruiting area that should help attract elite talent.

“It will be the best of the best,” Jay Jacobs, Auburn’s Director of Athletics, said in a school release. “It will be the gold standard in college athletics recruiting.”

Auburn recently sent Saturday Down South images of the planned renovation, and it should be a sight to behold when everything is completed.

Auburn’s gameday experience ranks among the best in the SEC, if not all of college football. Once these stadium renovations are in place, that experience should be even better.

“We’re going to keep bringing the amenities to our fans because they deserve nothing less,” Jacobs said. “Their commitment means the world to us. We want it to be a first-class experience.

“It will be a phenomenal facility, not only on Saturday, but will be able to be used throughout the year for a host of different banquets and events. It’s going to add so much to our gameday experience and also to the exterior of our stadium.”

According to Auburn, donors have already provided 30 percent of the expected $28 million cost of the project. Renovations are expected to be completed before the start of the 2018 football season.
