Lane Kiffin is fed up with hearing anyone say anything remotely negative about Jalen Hurts. So much so, that he felt the need to remind people of all the many accomplishments the sophomore quarterback has accomplished during his short time in Tuscaloosa Saturday night with a tweet.

The FAU head coach made an appearance during Monday morning’s ESPN College GameDay pregame show leading up to the New Year’s Day games to explain why he felt the need to defend his former Alabama quarterback.

Here’s the tweet Kiffin sent out:

So what compelled Kiffin to tweet that out?

“I get tired of so much criticism of him. He’s in his second year of playing football,” Kiffin said during his appearance on GameDay. “His first loss was the national championship. Your job as the QB is to score. Last time he had the ball in his hands he put it in the end zone.

“If (the defense) stops (Clemson on the final possession of the title game), everyone is saying what a great game he had. SEC Offensive Player of the Year as a freshman — first since Herschel Walker. I just get tired of it and wanted to send a message to him. I saw him last night and just reminding him to just be who you are, don’t listen to these other people.”

Kiffin was then asked to describe Hurts in one play.

“He’s dynamic… he’s going to find a way to win as long as players make plays around him.”

Pretty bold statement by the former Alabama coordinator. Although, judging by Hurts’ history on the  field, Kiffin is probably right.
